Hattie Dorene Parks Mason, age 91, resident of Fort Scott, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Fort Scott. She was born March 5, 1921 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Roy C. Davis and Jenny Hatch Davis. She was a 1939 graduate of Fort Scott High School. Dorene married Earl Parks on March 3, 1940 in Nevada, Missouri. He died August 3, 1988. She married Glenn Mason in 1993. He also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Brethren Church. In earlier years she was active serving as organist and pianist, choir director and Sunday school teacher. She also served as Bible School director and for many years as camp cook.

Survivors include a daughter, Pat Payne, Fort Scott; son Ron Parks and wife Del, Fort Scott; four grandchildren, Justin Parks and wife Gale, Shelly Huss and husband Matt, Hilery Payne and husband Logan, and Jerri Lynn Halsey and husband Scott; eight great- grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving are three step sons, James Mason and wife Kristine, Halfmoon Bay, California, Mark Mason, Bakersfield, California, and Paul Mason and wife Linda, Murrietta, California; one step daughter, Glenna Brown and husband Gary, Bakersfield, California; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Davis and a sister, Madeline Hyden.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Historic Preservation Association to maintain the Brethren Church and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P. O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
