Howard Lee Snyder, age 88, resident of rural Fort Scott, Kansas, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. He was born November 22, 1923 in Harding, Kansas the son of Emeral Brant Snyder and Nondus Emma Townsend Snyder. Howard married Lucile Edna Augur on June 23, 1943 at Nevada, Missouri. He was retired as an aircraft mechanic for TWA in Kansas City and a member of the I.A.M. Local Union #1650. Howard also worked on his own farm. The couple lived in Kansas City from 1966 to 1990. They moved to Nevada, Missouri and then to Fort Scott in 2002. He was a member of the Community Christian Church. He also was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #8, the Scottish Rite and Ararat Shrine, both in Kansas City and the Olive Chapter #13 Order Eastern Shrine of Fort Scott. The Snyders loved to travel and camp. They were members of the Old Forters, the FCRV, KCA, and Good Sam’s Club.

Survivors include his wife Lucile, of the home; two sons, Floyd Lee Snyder and wife Jeanette, Richland, Washington and Eldred Lynn Snyder, Nevada, Missouri; one daughter, Delphine Letha Parks and husband Ron, Fort Scott. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and his parents.

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the Mapleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel with Masonic services conducted at 7:00 P.M. during visitation.
