John Franklin “Frank” Haynes, age 95, a long-time area carpenter, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his home. He was born February 4, 1917, in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of Arthur M. Haynes and Mable Armintrout Haynes. He married Margie S. Besaw on May 29, 1954, in Nevada, Missouri. Frank worked his entire life in carpentry. After working for a construction company for twenty years, he began on his own. He was eighty seven when he finally retired. He greatly enjoyed building furniture. He and his wife Margie owned and operated Over the Hill Antiques on east Wall Street in Fort Scott. They liked to travel as well. He loved his grandchildren, especially his great granddaughter Makenna Russell, age three, who was at his side when he passed. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife Margie of the home; three sons, Arthur Franklin Haynes and wife Lydia, St. Joseph, Missouri, Rickey J. Haynes, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Michael E. Haynes, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Gorgie Combs, Branson, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Haynes; a half brother, Ernest Parker; a half sister, Beulah Parker; as well as his parents.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5th, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
