Harold M. "Harry" Kemna

Harold Mathias “Harry” Kemna, age 78, resident of Fort Scott, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Emergency Room. He was born August 17, 1933, in West Bend, Iowa, the son of John Henry Kemna and Helen Zeimet Kemna. He married Bobbi Sapp on August 29, 1959, at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Scott, Kansas. Harry had served with the United States Army where he had been stationed in Alaska. Following his time with the military, he was employed by Mid-Continental Restoration. In 1970, he purchased ground and constructed the KOA Campground and Mobile Home Park located north of Fort Scott. He later owned and operated Homestead Housing. He was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. Harry enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi, of the home; five children, Nancy Kemna, Maricopa, Arizona, Mike Kemna and wife, Cathy, Valley View, Texas, Barry Kemna and wife, Gina, Dallas, Texas, Carmen Flater and husband, Scott, Fort Scott, Kansas, and Jill Hogan and husband, Mark, Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Also surviving are two brothers, Leo Kemna and John Kemna, and three sisters, Irene Rosenstel, Alvina Delperdang and Rosie Dudding. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lawrence Kemna, Joe Kemna, and Albert Kemna, two sisters, Joanne Kemna and Bernadine Kemna, and a grandson, Jeremy Kemna.

Father Darrin May will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 18th at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Visitation will follow from 8 to 9 P.M.
