Velma Viola Madison, age 88, resident of Fort Scott Presbyterian Village, died Friday morning, September 3, 2010, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born January 12, 1922, in Bourbon County, Kansas, the daughter of Fred Eugene White and Laura Adeline Higbee White. Velma married Lyle Quick in 1942 at Fort Scott. They later divorced. She married Bill Madison in Arizona who preceded her in death. She did office work prior to moving to Sun City, Arizona at Smico Norvel Manufacturing and Midwestern Distribution. Velma returned from Sun City, Arizona to the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village in 2005. She was a past member of the DT Club in Mapleton. Survivors include a son, Dudley Quick and wife Joyce Sinn, Fort Scott; a daughter, Carol Reeder and husband Donald, Redfield, Kansas; and two sisters, Eva Byerley and Clara Bartlett, both of Sun City, Arizona. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Charles White and Russell White and two sisters, Nellie Quick and Doris Smith. There was cremation with family graveside services and burial to be held in the Barnesville Cemetery at Fulton, Kansas. Friends may sign her register book at Cheney Witt Chapel.
