Name:
Dannie Ray Hendrix
Date:
December 10, 1961 ~ January 17, 2010
Dannie Ray Hendrix, age 48, a resident of Walker, Missouri, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 17, 2010, at his home. He was born December 10, 1961, at Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Larry Dean Hendrix and Judy Carson Hendrix. He married Susan Hester on June 18, 1987. A husband and father rolled into one; an extra-ordinary man blessed with the gift of charm. He had his wife, and their three daughters and one son put together to create the word love and define the meaning of family. Dannie Ray Hendrix – words will never be able to describe what he meant to his family and what they meant to him. Dannie was involved in many activities in his life. He held an associate degree in electronics technology which he received from Fort Scott Community College. He was instrumental in helping his wife as they home schooled their children, after all the hard work, he and his family were honored by receiving Presidential Environmental Youth Award Region Seven by Al Gore in Washington, DC in 1998. He was awarded the Daily Point of Light award by President George Bush Sr. for producing the website the “Kids Channel” in 1999 which brought joy to children around the world. He was a man of his word a one of a kind. He was a back-yard mechanic, shirt off your back, “I can fix anything”, rough around the edges always honest kind of a man. He was an extra-ordinary father that would do anything in the world to see his children succeed. He was teacher, friend, lover, mad-man, hard worker, respectful, handsome, trust worthy, honest mentor, father, son, cousin, humorous, patient but fussy, care-taker, hopelessly romantic, and a husband. He was there for his family no matter what situation was thrown at them. In the battle against cancer that his youngest daughter had to face, he was her rock, remodeling a home that would be better for her health and to celebrate her victory in. He setup the ultimate role-model for his three daughters and especially his only son. He loved to explore the world and make his wife happy. He lived to fix things and make people laugh. He was the best thing that ever happened to his family and they will never be able to fill the hole within them. He had more personality in his finger tips than most people have in their bodies. His family wants him to know that he will be missed greatly. We will always carry him in our hearts. He’s their shooting star, winter and autumn days will pass and fade without him, things will never be the same, but his memory will remain forever.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; and his children, Samantha Hendrix, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nicole Hendrix, Ft. Scott, Kansas, Bethany Hendrix and Nick Hendrix, both of Fulton, Kansas. Also surviving are a brother, Larry Dean Hendrix, Redfield, Kansas, a sister, Shelly Fields, Cameron, Missouri; and his grandmother, Betty Carson, Fort Scott.
