Mildred May Weddington, age 76, a resident of Springfield, Missouri, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, at the James River Care Center in Springfield. She was born March 15, 1933, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Francis Tanner and Georgia Frances Mapes Tanner. She had worked as a surgical tech at the Truman Medical Center and later she worked in home health care while in Springfield.

Survivors include a son, Steven Weddington and wife, Valerie, Springfield, Missouri, and a daughter, Sharon Sue Hill and husband, Jeffrey, Breckenridge, Missouri. Also surviving are her sister, Betty Elizabeth Tate, Climax Springs, Missouri, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Kenneth Weddington in 2005 as well as her parents, a brother, Bobby Austin Tanner and two sisters, Velma Sue Judy and Anna Joyce Bethel.

Wayne Sams and Robert Tate will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
