Cherylain Jean “Cherrie” Davidson Ivey Johnson, age 58, a resident of Zion, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at her home in Zion, following a cancer illness. She was born August 4, 1951, at Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Alva Wayne Davidson and Doris Maxine Kegerreis. She married Samuel L. Johnson on March 21, 1989, at Miami, Oklahoma. Cherrie loved animals, especially horses; in her earlier years, she was active with 4-H horse events and the Bourbon County Fair. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel, of the home in Zion; three daughters, Stacey Lyn Ivey Culpepper, Olathe, Kansas, Ashley Lee Johnson, Zion, Illinois, and Tiffany Ann Johnson May and husband, Dallas of Georgia, and a step-son, Chad Johnson, of California. Also surviving are two brothers, Ron Davidson and Bill Davidson and three grandchildren J. Wayne Culpepper, Allison Culpepper and Kendra May.
Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
