Marty Ray Lord

September 17, 1961 ~ October 27, 2009

Marty Ray Lord, age 48, resident of Uniontown, Kansas, went to join his son, Austin, in heaven on October 27, 2009, at his home in Uniontown, following a short illness. He was born September 17, 1961, at Alva, Oklahoma, the son of Earnest M. and Hazel Mae Bergen Lord. He moved with his family to Uniontown, Kansas in 1964, to live on the farm which he loved. He attended school in Uniontown graduating in 1976. While in high school, Marty was active with the FFA and continued to have a love for the land and farming. He later attended Ft. Scott Junior College where he played on the football team. Marty later graduated from Missouri Southern College. He taught school for eleven years, first in Bismark, Missouri and then Colony, Kansas, and later Butler, Missouri. He served as basketball, wrestling and baseball coach during his teaching career. Marty married Jamie Seifker in 1986. They were later divorced. To this union were born two children, Ashley and Austin. Marty was active in hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting and sports. He dearly loved his children.

Survivors include a daughter, Ashley Lord, McComb, Illinois; his parents, Earnest and Hazel Lord, Moran; a brother, Frank Lord and wife, Lucille, Uniontown, Kansas; two sisters, Vicki Wood, Hume, Missouri and Mary Ridge and husband, Tom, Xenia, Kansas. Also surviving are three nephews, Jared Lord and wife, Heather, Heath Lord, and wife, Carrie, Ty Lord, and wife Wendie, all of Uniontown; four nieces, Mindy McCall and husband, Travis, Humboldt, Kansas, Shelby Wood, Prescott, Kansas, and Rayma and Mandi Ridge, Xenia, Kansas; great-nieces and nephews, Derek, Hannah, Makayla, and Arikah McCall, Humboldt, Kansas, McKenna and Krystal Lord, and Tyler Lord, all of Uniontown. He was preceded in death by his son, Austin Lord, a brother, Corky Lord, and a brother-in-law, Kenny Wood, as well as his maternal grandparents, Frank Alfred and Mary Jane Sims Bergen, paternal grandparents, Ralph Earnest and Mary McKinley Lord, Uncles Francis and Carl Lord, Jim John, and Raymond Bergen and aunts, Hazel Wilson and Opal Treece. Marty Ray Lord declared his love of the Lord at an early age and always felt His strength in rough and happy times. He will be greatly missed forever by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Following funeral services there will be cremation with private family burial in the Bronson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
