Bernice Esther Miller Tuggle, age 92, resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Monday, September 7, at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott. She was born December 15, 1916, in Hiattville, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick Neth and Delia Crays Neth. Bernice graduated from the Fort Scott High School in 1935. She married Ivan Miller on August 25, 1935. He preceded her in death February 7, 1982. She later married Carl Tuggle on February 18, 1986. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2009. Bernice was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Miller Michael and husband, Ernest, Redfield, Kansas and Froncie Miller Wood, and husband, Gary, Moran, Kansas. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Leona Miller, Fort Scott; two sisters, Mildred Daly and Della Mae Conner, both of Fort Scott; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Miller.
Pastor Tim Davish will conduct funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Centerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
