Terry Wayne Hawkins, Sr.

Terry Wayne Hawkins, Sr., age 57, resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Saturday, February 8, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born January 24, 1957, in Fort Scott, the son of Hazel Marie Hawkins. He graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1976. He married Clessa Kay Coulter on August 22, 1980, at Elm Creek in Fort Scott. Terry worked for Peerless Products for many years. He enjoyed fishing and more recently, hunting. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Clessa of the home; five sons, Jason Hawkins and wife Randie, Sheldon, Missouri, Terry Hawkins, Jr., Burt Hawkins and wife Vickie, Clarence Hawkins and wife Jaime, and John Hawkins and wife Ryan, all of Fort Scott; mother-in-law Mary Coulter, Fort Scott; brother Rusty Hawkins, Fort Scott; and sister Connie Breedlove and husband Joe, Platka, Florida. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, Lindsey, Layla, Hunter, Dustie, Teanin, Jackson, Tate, Kendra, Rissa, Austina, Aleigha, Leroy, and Clarence, Jr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Hawkins; mother, Hazel Hawkins, brother Raydean (Bud) Hawkins; and father-in-law Earl Coulter.
Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 14th, at Elm Creek Lake shelter house #1. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Terry Hawkins Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.
